Funding for retail store owners

You buy the holiday order in July. December tells you if you guessed right.

You write the fall and holiday order in the summer and pay for it long before a customer ever touches it. Until the season turns, that money is standing on the shelf where you cannot spend it. The landlord will not take it in merchandise.

This is what the buying calendar does to you.

The bills that come before the season does.

There are only 3 ways a business borrows money.

Your bank knows one of them. If it said no, you likely still qualify under another. That is not a pitch, it is how lending is structured.

1

On your revenue

When the score is not there yet and the summer order will not wait, this is the path. It is decided on the deposits your register sends to the bank, and there is no credit score floor on it.

Typical: 4+ months in business · $10K+ monthly sales · no minimum credit score

On your credit

A line of credit fits a store better than a lump sum does. You draw it down for the summer buy and pay it back as the fourth quarter sells, and the interest is only on what you used. Term loans sit on this path too, for a remodel or a second location, and your profile is what opens both.

Typical: 6+ months in business · 600+ FICO for a line of credit

3

On what you own

The store itself is full of collateral. Fixtures, shelving, refrigeration, the point of sale and the delivery van can all be financed, and equipment the store already owns outright can be turned into cash without selling it.

Typical: 580+ FICO · no minimum time in business for equipment

A pool of money you draw from when you need it and pay interest only on what you actually use. Pay it back and it is available again. It suits a business whose gaps come and go rather than one that needs a single lump sum.

Working Capital

Cash against the money already moving through your bank account. It is the fastest option on this page and the one with no credit score floor, because it is underwritten on your deposits rather than your FICO. Use it for materials, payroll, rent or a job you need to start before you get paid for the last one.

Minimum qualifications

  • 4+ months in business
  • $10,000+ monthly gross sales
  • No minimum FICO

What's needed

  • Signed application
  • 4 months of business bank statements

Fast facts

Term Loans

A lump sum repaid in fixed monthly instalments over a set period, at a traditional rate. This is the closest thing on the list to what a bank would give you, and it asks for the most: two years of history and a 660 score. Used for expansion or a large one off cost.

Minimum qualifications

  • 2+ years in business
  • $10,000+ monthly gross sales
  • 660+ minimum FICO

What's needed

  • Signed application
  • 4 months of business bank statements

Fast facts

  • Funding in as little as 1 to 3 days
  • Monthly payments available
  • Traditional APR
  • No prepayment penalties

Who you're dealing with.

We're Funding Access Platform, an independent funding referral service. We work with store owners because a bank judges you by whichever month it happens to open your file, and a quiet stretch right after a big season buy is the worst picture your books will ever show.

We don't lend money ourselves. We pass your request to ROK Financial, an A+ rated, BBB accredited marketplace that has funded over two billion dollars in business financing, and their team works your options across all three paths.
